Markings:
signed T. Doughty and dated 1831 (lower right)
Condition:
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc., an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's: This work has been well restored and could be hung in its current state. The canvas has been lined using Beva-371 as an adhesive. The paint layer is stable, and the texture of the paint layer is attractive. The varnish is very slightly uneven. Some old frame abrasion around the extreme edges has received retouches, which are visible under ultraviolet light. There are a few isolated spots of retouching in the sky: in the center, on the right above the trees, and in the upper left. A few tiny, very isolated dots of retouching can be seen addressing small spots of unevenness in the landscape. Overall, this work has received a negligible amount of retouching and is in excellent condition. Framed Dimensions: 30 3/4 by 24 1/4 in. (71.1 by 61.6 cm.)
