Post Lot TextWhen the Berlin Wall collapsed at the end of the 1980s and the 500,000 Soviet soldiers who surrounded West Berlin returned home, I thought that peace would come to Europe in a permanent way. This 2003 canvas painting Thrse sees the end of the tunnel, representing a yellow and blue head, did not at that time symbolise the resistance of Ukraine against the attack of Russia, but since 24 February 2022, its hidden message reappears in the daylight: freedom will always win in the end.The seller of this lot has agreed to donate an amount equal to 10% of the hammer price from their net proceeds of sale to the the UN Refugee Agency (HCNUR), who intends to use the funds to support the action Ukraine Emergency.
