oil on canvas which has been lined, the canvas tension is good and the canvas is in plane; the paint layer has a network of age craquelure, some cracks are slightly raised but stable; areas of retouching are well matched to the original; the varnish is clear, even and semi-matte, the appearance is good. there are a few chips and losses to the gilding on the frame
