Provenance:
Estate of Flora Blanc Reeder; Acquired by the present owner from the above. From an art historical perspective, the print Le Pendu is a very interesting example of his work. Titled in French, dated 1937, and reminiscent of Hayter's work, it was most certainly done while he was studying printmaking at Atelier 17. Reeder's works from this period are extremely rare, which is a shame because it was such a defining time for his development as an artist. At Hayter 's popular studio, Dickson came into contact with important artists like Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, and Max Ernst, influences that would drive his creativity and contribute to the sophisticated style of Fort Worth artists for years to come.
