Eiders At Matinicus
Materials:
watercolor on paper
Size Notes:
sight
Markings:
A label in the back, in addition to providing the title of the work, reads: "The ducklings are the remains of three broods - eiders frequently pool their young. The rear female , especially, is on the lookout for black-backed gulls, which like to swoop down and make off with the young. The little came in closer to the rocks, and let themselves be rolled by the water over the smooth rock, almost as if it were a game." Signed and dated 1971
