Another example of this design sold Sotheby's London, The Best of British: Design from the 19th and 20th Centuries, 20 March 2008, lot 26.;; Only a handful of examples of this design are known. Designed originally by Webb for William and Jane Morris' Red House, an example was shown at the 1862 International Exhibition in London. This was the first public appearance for the newly founded firm of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co., which became Morris & Co. in 1875. A similar pair of candlesticks are in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and further examples are at Kelmscott Manor, Lechlade, Oxfordshire.; Conçu à l'origine pour le Red House de William et Jane Morris, un exemplaire fut présenté à l'exposition universelle de Londres en 1862.
