all pencil, pen and black ink and watercolour heightened with bodycolour and with gum arabic, on various shades of coloured paper including blue, grey and green

Size Notes:

the frontispieces (2); the watercolours (26.3 x 20.6 cm.) and slightly smaller; the album (40 x 40 x 8 cm.)

Markings:

the frontispieces signed 'Peter Scott' (lower right), all sheets individually signed and variously dated '1955-1963', and each with a printed explanatory key identifying each bird

Condition:

in 20th century green morocco by Bayntun (Riviere), single gilt fillet on sides, spines ruled in gilt, title in gilt on front cover, spines and inner fillets

Provenance:

By descent in the family to the present owner.
