Edition:

The board is sound and very slightly bowed. Generally the work is in very good overall condition. There is a knock with a small loss in the lower left corner, and a further upper left. With some further minor instances of frame abrasion to the edges elsewhere. Raised nail heads that have been overpainted visible about the edges. Two or three minor areas of reticulation to the dark blue pigments in the centre right of the composition, with one or two lines elsewhere. A few extremely minor flecks of loss upper right, with one or two other extremely minor flecks elsewhere. Uneven varnish layer and surface dirt. Tiny instances of studio detritus and matter. A small number of surface scuffs and scratches only visible in raking light. Ultraviolet light reveals a few minor lines of retouching to old paint separation. Other pigments fluoresce but these appear to be the hand of the artist. Held in a simple gilt wooden frame.
