Condition:

Framed: 81.2 by 65.7cm., 32 by 25?in. The canvas is lined and the edges are taped. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of retouching to the edges of the canvas, most notably in the lower left quadrant, and some further spots and lines of retouching to the sitter's left shoulder. There is what appears to be a repaired tear on the reverse of the canvas lining corresponding to some areas of possible retouching around the sitter's left eye. There are some fine lines of craquelure and paint shrinkage in places and a slight horizontal stretcher bar mark which is only visible under raking light. There are several pinprick size losses in places. There is a slight surface protrusion towards the centre of the left edge and there are a few fly spots to the lower left quadrant. This work is in overall good condition.
