Condition:

unframed: 40.5 by 30cm.; 16 by 11¾in. The board bows slightly but otherwise appears sound. The work appears in good overall condition. Frame abrasion to the extreme edges, most visible to the lower and right edges. Fading and variation to the light pink pigment in the lower right quadrant. Possible bloom to a red area to the right of centre. Reticulation to the black pigment. Traces of dirt in places. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of retouching. The work is held in a painted wooden slip and stained and gilt painted wooden frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
