Lucio Fontana è figlio di una doppia cultura, italiana e argentina, che lo porta ad abbracciare due tendenze apparetemente inconciliabili: l’evoluzione lineare e coerente dell’arte tipicamente europea e l’eclettismo, ovvero “l’attitudine alla mescolanza, all’intreccio, alla contaminazione che spesso nasce dalla mancanza di una radice propria”, tipica della cultura sudamericana, come illustra Achille Bonito Oliva. ; Egli è in grado di unire pittura e scultura, sfondando una superficie per approdare alla realtà umana e fisica, ispirandosi apertamente a Boccioni che nel <em>Manifesto della Scultura Futurista</em> afferma che “la scultura deve far vivere gli oggetti rendendo sensibile, sistematico e plastico il loro prolungamento nello spazio, poiché nessuno può più dubitare che un oggetto finisca dove un altro comincia.”<br> Con <em>Concetto Spaziale, Attese</em>, Fontana è in grado di condensare tutto ciò che scrive nel Manifesto Blanco del ’46: concentra spazio e tempo, fendendo la materia per costringerla ad avere luce, approdando ad una modalità di espressione così personale e soggettiva che si concretizza nell’applicazione reale di un atto mentale irripetibile. Il verde di <em>Concetto Spaziale</em>, esattamente come il taglio, è un elemento dello spazio pensato insieme alla scultura su tela, una scelta dell’artista, una presa di posizione ed un palesarsi del proprio io: “La nuova arte richiede la funzione di tutte le energie dell'uomo, nella creazione e nell'interpretazione. L'essere si manifesta integralmente, con la pienezza della sua vitalità. COLORE-SUONO-MOVIMENTO.” (Lucio Fontana, <em>Manifesto Blanco</em>, 1946)<br><br> ; Lucio Fontana was raised in two differing cultures, the Italian and the Argentine, which led him to embrace two apparently irreconcilable tendencies, the linear and coherent evolution of typically European art, and eclecticism or rather "the aptitude for intermingling, intertwining, to the contamination that often arises from the lack of a proper root", typical of South American culture, as&nbsp; Achille Bonito Oliva wrote. ; Fontana was able to combine painting and sculpture, breaking through a surface of the canvas to reach a human and physical reality. He was openly inspired by Boccioni, who stated in the <em>Manifesto of Futurist Sculpture</em> that "sculpture must make objects live by making them sensitive, systematic and plastic in space, since no one can deny that one object ends where another begins. " ; With <em>Concetto Spaziale, Attese</em>, Fontana condenses the research elucidated in his Manifesto Blanco of 1946. He concentrates space and time, cleaving the material to force it into the light, arriving at a mode of expression so personal and subjective that it takes shape in the tangible application of a unique mental act. The green colour of <em>Concetto Spaziale</em>, <em>Attese</em> just like the cut, is an element of space and a sculpture on canvas. It is a personal choice of the artist, an idiosyncratic manifestation of his own self: “Contemporary art requires the function of all human energies, in its creation and interpretation.
