Condition:

The work has been examined framed. Canvas is not lined. There is a milky and uneven varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating. However, examination under UV light reveals a spot of retouching to the man's mouth (approx. 5 cm wide) associated with a patch on the reverse and an additional spot of retouching to the woman's cheek (approx. 7 cm wide) associated with a patch on the reverse. There is a spot of retouching to the upper right corner (approx. 7 cm wide) and a few further smaller spots of retouching to the woman’s hat. There is an additional smaller sport of retouching (approx. 1 cm wide) to the lower left quadrant. There are lines of stable craquelure throughout the composition. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
