The sitter’s husband, Jan Miense Molenaer (c. 1610-1668), as recorded in the post-mortem inventory of his effects, on 10 October 1668 (op. cit. infra). (Probably) Samuel Vanderplank, London merchant of Dutch extraction, by circa 1700, and by descent to the present owners.
