inscribed 'CHARLES TOWNLEY.' to the front and also extensively in ancient Greek beneath (to know the past enables a person to understand correctly the present); also signed to the side and back 'Nollekens Ft. 1807.'

very minor chips

Formerly on loan to Towneley Hall Art Gallery, Burnley, Lancashire, 1926 to 2007.
