Condition:

unframed: 63.5 by 76cm.; 25 by 30in. Original canvas, undulates slightly; the work appears in good overall condition. The work is executed on a coarse canvas some areas of which - notably about the edges - show through the paint surface. He has also incised the pigment throughout. There are some occasional surface abrasions about the edges, a few minor abrasions elsewhere, and a spot of paint loss to an orange spot of impasto centre right of composition. A minor fleck of paint loss to area of green pigment near centre of composition. A faint diagonal surface scratch near centre of lower edge. Some surface dirt. Under ultraviolet light there appear to be no signs of retouching. Held in a grey painted frame with a gilt surround.
