( Italian, 1441 - 1493 )
Madonna and child with an adoring St. John the bapist, attended by a male saint, before a landscape, a tondo
Materials:
tempera and oil on panel
Size Notes:
diameter
Condition:
This work has not been recently restored, but it is in very good condition overall. The heavy panel shows no reinforcements on the reverse. The surface of the panel is flat, and shows a mostly stable paint layer. There is a loss and unstable filling in the lower left in the shelf on which the Child stands. There are a few isolated wormholes in the surface in the hands of Saint John and in the arm of the Madonna on the right, which do not seem to be active. There is a diagonal crack above the head of Saint John
