Signed, dated and inscribed lower left, ‘J. Leisten 85 / nach F. v. Defregger’ [after F. V. Defregger]
Condition:
The canvas has been relined and the paint surface shows craquelure and paint losses to the hat of the milkmaid, the scythe and the margins. The inspection under UV light reveals scattered small areas of retouching to the margins, the figures and the background, as well as major touch-ups to the lower right of the canvas. The frame is chipped
