Unlined canvas; a few ares of craquelure and stretcher bar marks; minor surface grime and canvas is slightly slack with cupping in corners; under UV light, there appears to be inpaint along top edge and a 7 x 9 inch section of inpaint above soldiers in left half - presumably to cover up the shape of Georgia as seen in the published version of the work;

Robert and Carolyn Wohlsen; Millport Conservancy, gift from the above. A framed copy of the magazine cover accompanies this lot. Proceeds to benefit the Millport Conservancy at Franklin and Marshall College.
