private collection, Switzerland, The carpet’s asymmetrical ornamentation is in line with Staudigl’s designs in the "Indian exotic style" for the "Serapis" series of the Ernst Wahliß pottery factory in Vienna, produced between 1911 and 1915. Although no realised textile works by the artist were known to date, coloured designs for carpets and textiles demonstrate Staudigl’s great interest in this field., Lit.:cf. W.
