Markings:

The canvas is lined, the paint surface is fairly clean and the varnish is slightly discoloured. Diagonal lines of visible retouching in all four corners indicate that they were either previously folded or made up to form a rectangle. Discoloured retouching is also visible to the sky upper right and in between the putti's heads, and along all four margins where there is also some frame abrasion (notably on the left-hand side). Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms all this and appears to reveal very little other significant intervention. There is a small area of retouching to a damage in the tree trunk upper left measuring 2 x 2 cm. The painting is in overall good condition.
