Either Sir Henry Doulton or his son Ronald Duneau Doulton (a gift from the Egyptian Government in the late 1870s. Henry Doulton (1820-1897) joined his father's pottery workshops, developing glazes and initiating the manufacture of drainage pipes that made Doulton a household name. The company exhibited its wares in Philadelphia in 1876 and in Paris at the Exposition Universelle two years later, following which Doulton was made a Chevalier of the Legion d'honneur.
