Condition:

The canvas is lined. There is a horizontal line running across the centre of the composition (as visible in the catalogue illustration), this appears to be due to the joining of two large canvas elements and is associated with a few flecks of paint losses and associated minor inpainting. There are a few fly spots and dots of dirt ingrained to the varnish in places. There is some frame rubbing associated with paint losses along the extreme edges and a few minor further flecks of paint losses in areas. There are a few lines of stable craquelure scattered throughout the composition. There is a milky varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating. However, examination under UV light appears to reveal some minor areas of fluorescence scattered across the composition due to the varnish and to careful retouching of paint losses in areas, mostly along the edges and the lower part of the composition. This work is in overall good condition and could benefit from a light clean. Please note: Condition XVI of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.
