Condition:

framed: 37 by 33 in.; 93.9 by 83.8 cm The following condition report is kindly provided by Simon Parkes. This work on canvas has been lined using a traditional glue as an adhesive. The texture seems to be unaffected by the lining. The paint layer is stable. The work can certainly be hung as is in its current frame. A few retouches are visible in the face and hair when the work is viewed under ultraviolet light. There is a small retouching above the nostril on the right side, one beneath the lip on the right side, and one in the cheek to the left of the mouth. A few tiny dots of retouching have been added in and beneath the chin and beneath the mouth. A small amount of restorations can be seen in the darkest areas of the hair to the left of the forehead, above and to the left of the face, and beneath the ear on the right. The painting looks well and should be hung as is.
