Condition:
There is one small spot (roughly .5 x .5 cm) of restoration in the child's hair just above the center of her forehead. There are a few other touches of restoration in the background, one in the upper right corner, and two more in the upper left quadrant, below the inscription.

John Mitchell Fine Paintings, London Exhibited: Exposition de "Beaux-Arts" et de "La Gazette des Beaux-Arts," (Salon de 1880-1900), Paris, n.d., no. 62 (from a fragmentary label on the stretcher) Berry-Hill Galleries, New York Marie-Anne Durand, the artist's eldest daughter, was one of his favorite subjects for portraiture. In 1889, she became the wife of the comic playwright Georges Feydeau.
