Monogramed CP (lr), inscribed with artist's name and dated 1878 on the backing; A poem inscribed by the artist on an old label affixed to the backing reads: And there upon the ground I sit/And sing a song to them/And often after sun-set,.../When it is light and fair/I take my little porringer/And eat my supper there".

Condition:

Toned; scattered foxing; two repaired tears at center left and upper left edge
