each framed: 47 1/5 by 61 2/5 in.; 119.9 by 156 cm. The canvases are lined and stable on their stretchers. The images read well beneath slightly discolored varnish with the texture on the curtains retained. The first canvas has 2 patches repairing the back of the canvas that are not obvious on the verso. A few spots of discolored retouching are visible to the naked eye, for example around a tear in the lower right quadrant of the second painting. Under UV inspection of the first canvas, retouching is visible in the lower left quadrant on the curtain and the varnish obscures any further retouching. UV inspection of the second canvas shows a thin horizontal line of retouching in the lower center running almost the entire length of the painting, and the aforementioned tear which measures about 2 by2 in. on the back wall, and a few other small spots of retouching. The paintings can hang in their present state. Offered in matching decoratively carved giltwood frames.
