Condition:

This early large-format photogravure, on fibrous Japan laid paper, is in generally excellent condition. The plate is evenly inked and the image retains its intended rich black-brown tonality and detailed, creamy highlights. As is typical of hand-pulled photogravures, the image is printed slightly askew on the sheet. There is some very faint soiling as well as a liquid stain in the margins. There is a stray graphite mark in the margin at the lower right. There is some staining on the reverse of the mount, notably in the upper and lower left corners, and there are a few stray graphite marks. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The condition report is provided to assist you with assessing the condition of the lot and is for guidance only.
