Condition:

Good. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some damage and restoration work. There are two areas with signs of in painting. The first has an approximate 0.5 inch diameter and is located about 5.5 inches from the upper edge of the piece and 3 inches from the left edge of the piece. The second has an approximate 2 inch diameter and is located about 4 inches from the lower edge of the piece and 6.5 inches from the left edge of the piece. Both of these areas are accompanied by a patch on the verso. There is some craquelure surrounding these areas as well as minimal craquelure and cupping scattered throughout the piece. There are signs of paint loss in the lower right corner and along the lower edge of the piece along with minimal paint loss scattered throughout. The canvas is warped in the central left portion of the piece accompanying a third patch on the verso. There is a notable crack in the surface of the paint in this area which extends vertically approximately 5 inches in length and is about 2 inches from the left edge of the piece. There does appear to be minimal paint loss accompanying this crack. The piece is framed in an ornate, pale antiqued gold frame with an ecru painted linen liner. The frame is in good condition for its age with normal signs of wear, signs of light separation in all 4 corners and notable chips on the upper and lower left corners
