Traditionally attributed to Giovan Battista Ruoppolo in the private collection of origin the unpublished painting presented here is instead it is a typical work by Giovan Battista Verrocchi the Roman artist rediscovered starting from the historical exhibition on the still life of 1964 thanks to the studies of Mina Gregori (1973) Giampaolo Pes (2005) and Gianluca and Ulisse Bocchi (2005). The reconstruction of his biographical data has made it possible to hypothesize that his activity is; as a still-life painter it took place over a prolonged period of time making him the link between the first generation of specialists linked to the models of Caravaggio and the Master of Hartford and that on the threshold of the Baroque by Michelangelo Cerquozzi and Michelangelo of the Campidoglio. In this key precisely some of his works have been exhibited on the occasion of the recent exhibition in the Galleria Borghese in Rome (
