Raqib Bashorun was born in 1955. He graduated as a sculptor from the Yaba College of Technology in 1978 with an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and later went back in 1981 for his Higher National Diploma (HND). He also holds a B.ED and M.ED in Art Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia where he also gained an MFA in 2002. He was the Head, Department Graphics, School of Art and Design and Printing, Yaba College of Technology. The artist renowned for his beautiful woodworks has a studio in Iba, Lagos where he organises an annual workshop.
