Paulina Jaimes

(Mexican , b. 1986 )

She studied Visual Arts in La Esmeralda and several courses to specialize in pictorial techniques in Escuela de Arte Van Gogh. Thanks to her work, she has been granted with the scholarship Jóvenes Creadores by FONCA and Honorable Mention in Premio Nacional de Pintura José Atanasio Monroy. In 2013 she was invited to participate in the project "El milenio visto por el arte", an initiative by Grupo Milenio and Avelina Lésper for the diffusion of contemporary Mexican painting. In 2015 she presented "Síntomas de un cuerpo presente" solo show in Museo del Pueblo de Guanajuato and in 2016 "Entre el silencio y el canto" in Galería de la SHCP. Also, she has participated in numerous collective exhibitions in spaces such as National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, Museo de la SHCP Antiguo Palacio del Arzobispado and Museo del Carmen. The theme of the body has become an essential part of her work, as it allows her to get to know relevant aspects of her human condition. Although she tends to figurative art, there is a concern and insistence on being brutal with each character she portrays. Through oil and glazes, and between colored brushstrokes that tend to defragment, Paulina Jaimes shows the vulnerable condition of the body, before a world that is surprisingly unstable.
