He studied Visual Arts in La Esmeralda and Graphic Comunication Design in UAM. Pablo Cotama is a visual creator who specializes in painting. Since childhood, his education was strongly influenced by television, illustrated books, 3D View- Master and a fascination for staring at fire as it consumed other children's toys. His thematic concerns are related to the study of man, human dimension and the conception of the world; this is why his thought and investigations go through different disciplines such as neurosciences, psychology, astrophysics, history of art, religions, play and toys, marking a determining influence in his visual proposals. His plastic work is focused on the configuration of hybrid and supra-baroque aesthetics that he transfers to painting; also the experimentation with non-pictorial materials, flexible supports, three-dimensional applications and interventions in the exhibit's space. He has received a number of distinctions, such as being a member of Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte by FONCA and awards in events such as Bienal Nacional de Arte de Yucatán, Bienal de Pintura Pedro Coronel, and Bienal Nacional de Pintura y Grabado Alfredo Zalce. He has presented nine solo shows in Mexico City, London, Oaxaca, Monterrey and Morelia, and has participated in more than 30 collective exhibitions in Mexico, London, Singapur, Korea, Indonesia, Canada and France. His work can be found in the collections of important institutions such as Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños MUPO, UAM Xochimilco, Instituto de Cultura de Yucatán, Museo Pedro Coronel in Zacatecas and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Alfredo Zalce in Morelia.
