A native of Rochester, New York, Norton Bush studied with landscape painter Jasper Cropsey and William Hart, and eventually became a leader in the Northern California art community, spending the greater part of his life in San Francisco. Therein, Bush consistently traveled with focus in the exotic landscapes of Central and South America, utilizing the techniques and admirable mastery found in his snowy summits of California and the Sierra Nevada.
