Kosso Eloul was born in Mourom, Russia in 1920 and emigrated to Palestine, with his family, in 1924. In 1939 he began his studies in Danziger's studio whose Canaanite sculptures were a great influence on his work. After a short period Eloul left to continue his studies at the Chicago Art Institute, where he became acquainted with pre-Columbian sculpture. In 1948 he was one of the founding members of the New Horizons Group.
