Guan Jianxin was born in Li Shui, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Fine Arts Academy of China in 1982. He is a member of the Society of Portrait Painters' of America, a director of the Zhejiang Artists’ Association and also a member of the Chinese Artists' Association. Guan Jianxin has won an increasing number of awards at National Art Exhibitions, Zhejiang Province Art Exhibitions and Teacher Art Exhibitions. He has participated in international shows with an Asian theme in excess of ten times. In 1998, at the request of Italy’s Apennines Fine Arts Institute, Guan Jianxin went to Europe in order to participate in a cultural exchange of key Fine Art concepts, together with two other famous artists, Quan Shanshi and Lu Qi. The trip also allowed him to facilitate a solo exhibition in Italy, for which he was awarded the “Community Contribution Prize”, issued by proxy of the Institute. Guan's work is collected globally, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, America and Italy by both institutions and private individuals. In his work, Guan Jianxin seeks to capture the impressions and yearnings of the early subconscious which are all too easily subsumed by the adult mind.
