Condition:
A bright and brilliantly colored set. Title-pages, contents leaves, and all plates backed with linen and mounted on guards (late 19th–early 20th century), occasionally resulting in the left margins being closely trimmed. Some plates with finger soiling, light foxing, spotting, and browning, other light staining and discoloration, mostly limited to the margins. A few plates have marginal tears (usually closed) or tiny losses to margins. Bachman's text volumes not present.
Provenance:
Purchased by the Indiana Historical Society from Kennedy Galleries, New York, in 1951, for $900; with the IHS, William Henry Smith Library bookplate on front pastedown of each volume.
