Literature:
The Venetian artist Fabio Canal was a pupil ad a follower of Giambattista Tiepolo (1696-1770). Unfortunately only a small part of his oeuvre has survived, his drawings have hitherto been researched in only a few articles. Comparable drawings by Canal including are the study "Two bishops and other figures" in the Morgan Library and Museum, New York (Inv. IV. 87a; B. Aikema, 1999, pp. 252-53, No. 91) and "Juno asking Aelous to Release the Winds“ in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Quimper (C. Loisel 2006, pp. 190-91, No. 84). Comparable B.
