A watercolour study of the same subject is illustrated in Heilwig and Peter Andreae, 'The Levinson Collecion of Namibian Art' (Pretoria, 1986), pg. 57, cat. no. 76. The work is also discussed by Olga Levinson in her monograph 'Adolph Jentsch', (Cape Town, 1973), pg 42: '...The painting(s) called 'Aloe in bloom' left the onlooker with a sense of exhilaration in the joyous contact with mountain and veld.'
