Signed by Thomas Tompion's journeyman James Tunn London circa 1715; The inverted bell top case with gilt carrying handle strap work putti and mask enclosing date aperture and signature in the arch subsidiary rings for regulation and strike/silent above the silvered chapter ring with mock pendulum in the matted center scroll and strap work spandrels incorporating monsters the movement with seven latched pillars and latches to the dial feet verge escapement spring suspended pendulum with shaped brass rise and fall lever mounted on backplate striking the hour on a bell pull quarter repeat on four bells on Tompion's system through two linked steel levers mounted on the backplate the cocks for the repeat levers engraved with bees the front plate cut away to accommodate the pivot of the main repeat arm the backplate profusely engraved with leafy scrolls and birds flanking the scale work signature cartouche
