Literature:

Sukari is a painter of the varying experiences of life. In 2015, an exhibition held at Jakarta explored the many themes of his oeuvre, including his abstract and figurative works. Despite his profile, Sukari lives within a rural agrarian environment, which brings him close to the subject matters that are often featured in his paintings. In this painting, the indiscernible and mystical nature of the Barong is depicted. The choice of this subject matter is a result of the artist’s personal and religious community within the village
