The model is believed to be Karen Borgen (1876-ca. 1960), the same model Munch featured in his painting Alma Mater (circa 1910s), installed in the Festival Hall at the University of Oslo.

With margins, in good condition apart from pale paper discoloration darkest at sheet edges, unobtrusive creasing along sheet edges, the verso with a few areas of foxing, brown tape along sheet edges and rubbing probably associated with previous hinging, framed.
