Markings:

The canvas has a recent glue relining and is stable. There is some frame abrasion to the very edges of the canvas, as is typical for works of this age. There is a subtle craqueleure pattern throughout which is not bothersome. A few old restorations have blanched, for example in the background at left and in the shadow of her neck, but these are minimal. The varnish is clear and even, with the elaborate details of the costume retaining their vibrant colors and fluid brushstrokes very nicely. Under ultraviolet light one can see an old campaign of restoration in the skin tones of the face and neck which flouresces, though this is well done and not visible to the naked eye. There are some layers of uneven cleaning and varnish in the background, with some restoration, that is evident under ultraviolet light. The costume, however, has very little restoration and remains in very good condition. Offered in a carved black and giltwood frame.
