The present composition derives from the prime version by Vannini, which extends on the right-hand side to include the well and figures around it, in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (inv. no. 1573).1 Two other versions, of a similarly wider format, are the painting in the Pucci Collection, Florence,2 and that sold at Sotheby's, London, 8 March 1972, lot 149.3
