On close inspection, the work exhibits minor scratches in places. There are a handful of areas exhibiting white pigment, most notably to the centre of the left hand edge, these are likely contemporaneous to the work. There also appears to be areas of minor dark speckles of pigment, for example the flower in the lower centre of the work. This is likely contemporaneous to the work. There are areas along the framing edges that exhibit spots of black paint, likely a result of the painted frame.
