Isao Ikegami

(Japanese , b. 1938 )

Working with abstracted imagery in silkscreen, usually with fine gradations of blacks and blues, with highlights in brilliant red, Japanese artist and printmaker Isao Ikegami (b. 1938), graduated from Musashino Art Academy in Tokyo in 1960 and worked as a graphic designer until the 1980s. He has been exhibiting his original prints since the 1980s with regular exhibits at the prestigious CWAJ (College Women's Association of Japan) as well as exhibits at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Gallery Tamura in Hiroshima, Kanagawa Prefectural Gallery, Tsutaya Gallery in Kyoto, and many others. Ikegami's work is in the collections of the Rockefeller Foundation, the Singapore National Museum, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Bank of America, and many other collections.
