Anah Dunsheath, well known as New Zealand’s leading antiquarian bookdealer first operating out of Queens Arcade, then Vulcan Lane and now in High St for many years, has another successful career. She has always collected art and been interested in information relating to New Zealand art. In 1999 she received by mail a flyer inviting the public to enter the Telecom Awards to illustrate the front cover of the Auckland telephone book. This triggered Anah's serious passion for painting. In November she applied to study at Elam School of Fine Arts, and began the following year. It was also in 2003 that Anah won the Telecom Award, and had completed enough painted works to interest Ferner Galleries, who hosted her first solo exhibition in August of that year.
